Profile
Hi, I am Royce Ragragola, I enjoy many things, and one of the things I have a passion for is graphic design. Since I can remember, I’ve always loved drawing and sketching. With over 18 years of Design experience in many facets of design, I am enthralled by all things art. Not only in design principles, but in photography, fine art, street art, music, architecture, and the natural art we find in nature.

About Me
As an artist, I am here to push the envelope of creativity and design. As a designer, I walk that fine line between art and crafting a story that suits the brand or company. To Evoke emotion that conveys a visual message, creating an impression towards an impactful design experience. To work as a part of a creative team. Painting just inside that line of the brand, but, with the ability to create just enough edge.
My design work is inspired by the ideas and dreams of clients. I like to say I work through them to pull those ideas from their thoughts, out of my head. Creating something the client, their customers and most importantly, I am extremely proud of. My job as a designer is to take those ideas, mold them and shape them to form the brand in the best style that represents the brand.
Growing up in Hawaii, as a surfer, I have huge respect and love for the ocean, the mountains and all that nature provides. Nature, especially the ocean, is one of the things that inspires me through some of my pieces. As a young adult living in the South Bay & Venice Beach, I was heavily influenced by my surroundings, the art culture, shows, and museums of Los Angeles. The art culture of LA still inspires me to this day. Currently, I gain new inspiration from textures, textiles, and patterns in nature. How can I incorporate those lines and/or designs in a contemporary or abstract manner in a design and fashion-forward sense?

PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY:
Creating art, drawing sketching, making, and designing have been one of the things I’ve loved since I could remember. Initially, I wanted to be an architect. But, as an artist, being confined to a “box” didn’t color over well. As a teen, I was immediately enamored by the art of graphic design. Branding, logo design, type treatments, illustration, packaging, advertising and the progressive evolution of web design all move and shape me as a designer to this day.
With over 18 years of design experience, the fruition of my skills as a graphic designer stem from the production tables of a sign shop. Allowing me to gain hands-on, rudimentary print design skills and techniques that are not necessarily taught in classrooms or art school. Deriving from those teachings, my interest grew, from the basis of page layout, print design, print production design, print management, type treatments, and logo design. From there, my design prowess took off. After a couple of years, I went to art school to hone those fundamental design skills, then further my knowledge and career as a Senior Graphic designer, then on to a creative leadership role.

Fast forward to my design career now, I have been the creative director and lead digital designer, winning 4 international SGIA / Printing United awards for exhibiting the capabilities of overall print design and chroma showcasing fluorescent and out-of-gamut sublimation inks using Spot / Alpha Channels in Adobe Photoshop.

Prior to Graduating from The Art Institute of California, Los Angeles in 2007, as one of the standout students of my graphic design program, I attended the University of Hawaii and the UH Community Colleges part-time; working full time as a print production artist outside of taking classes. My job as a print production artist springboard me into the design world and helped me gain invaluable hands-on experience to carve out my path into graphic design. Since then, I have had the pleasure to travel internationally for business to provide design and print production design consulting for companies in Sydney, UK, Vancouver, Bangkok, Singapore, and Guangzhou, China. I have had the pleasure of working with companies such as FIFA, NIKE, American Apparel, ‘Ole Smoky MoonShine, Pernod Ricard, and Veuve Clicquot /Moët Hennessey (LVMH).
