PLAY SALTY X ELLE Collaboration

As the Creative Director for PLAY SALTY, I had the pleasure of creating a Swimwear collaboration with Elle Sampiere, a professional free surfer. This was a great experience in understanding her preference for fabric, cut, and swimwear designs. Where form had to follow function, to look cute in swimwear, but also be able to hold up in heavy surf. In thinking of the needs of form following function, I also created a sleeve design that keeps the sleeve from bunching up and/or rolling upwards. This sleeve design has a provisional utility patent. So, as a Creative Director, I am not only thinking of how designs look, I also see the full scope of the project and if there are other angles we can market products. Even if we have to wait a few extra months to go to market, the brand's designs are protected.
