Pacific Islander's Association - Logo Design

Logo design for Pacific Islander's Association (PIA). Being from Hawaii, this logo embodies a sense of pride. This logo had to be simple, yet represent all the Pacific Islands of Polynesia. What better way to connect the Pacific Islands than to incorporate the type of double-hull canoe the ancient Polynesians used to traverse the Pacific?
Without the over use of tribal lines, and triangles most would typically associate with Polynesia, the double-hull canoe is a subtle nod that adds to the serif typeface. The typeface itself has a sense of connection to the Isles in a classical fashion.
